Networks are more and more subject to various kinds of complex security attacks. Existing security system responses have reached their limits in detecting and defending against various network attacks because current attacks are decentralized, automated and intelligent and these systems are passive in response to network attack in that they are limited to being local; and there is no automated, network wide response against detected attacks. Some drawbacks of existing systems reveal the necessity of designing a new generation of systems adapted to dynamical environment. In order to deal with these requirements, active networks approach provides interesting characteristics; it is a novel approach that gives networks and services flexibility and spontaneity. With an active network in place, we can build a more active and dynamic attack response by pushing the countermeasures near the source of attack. This paper describes this approach.

Electroplating waste with very high concentration of metals and COD has always been posing a great challenge for treatment in an environmental-friendly way. The present study attempts at use of constructed wetland in treating electroplating waste. Three types of wetland setups were used in the study, namely: single wetland cell, two-wetland cells in cascade and single wetland cell with adsorbent bed for varying hydraulic detention times (2 days, 4 days and 6 days) in batch mode. The percentage removal of all metals was found to be more than 80%. The effect of varying detention time was not found to improve the removal efficiency in all the three cells varying modes of treatment, thus indicating 2 days to be optimum detention time. The mode of set-up of the wetland cells (i.e., with cascading and with augmented adsorbents) was not found to be statistically significant compared to treatment using single-isolated wetland cell unit, based on ANOVA test for two-factors, i.e., chemical speciation and wetland cell-setup types.Keywords

The ancient Thanjavur population located in delta of River Cauvery had been dependent on surface water for drinking until recently, wherein there is an incremental rise in augmented bore-well water supply. Incidentally, there have been observations of moderate to high scale formations by the groundwater during domestic heating, as well as consistently high record of kidney-stone (mostly calcium oxalates) occurrence in the city and its suburbs. The present work focuses on calcium content, its desirability level and the corrosion/scaling coefficients. One hundred two (102) samples were collected prior to monsoon season in the year 2008 from the study area for study of various physico-chemical parameters. In order to estimate scalability and corrosivity, two standard indices (namely Langelier Saturation Index and Ryznar Saturation Index) were used. GIS has been used to develop integrated maps for demarcating zones of different calcium concentrations in groundwater and its relation with scale and corrosion formation tendencies.Keywords

Discharge of untreated domestic wastewater often leads to eutrophication of receiving water body and create a septic condition, and accelerate sewage sickness in case of land-disposal. However, since domestic wastewater is recognized as nutrient rich water, the recovery of nutrients using a chemical precipitation and crystallization technique may provide value added product struvite, which is a slow releasing fertilizer. This research work shows the techno-feasibility struvite precipitation as an attempt for improving water quality, with simultaneous recovery of struvite as byproduct.Keywords

Background/Objectives: Now-a-day's petrol consumption has increased too much. The idea of limiting the resources by using them effectively is our main objective. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Trending identification techniques like RFD Technology is used here for implementing the proposed approach. Each person having a vehicle is provided with these cards containing unique ids. The unique id is recognized by the RFID Reader. As per the vehicle requirement the usage value is predefined. When the person uses his petrol, the value will be decremented automatically in the database. LCD is used to display at present usage value of the customer and also the remaining usage value. Findings: Consumers may face difficulties after the usage limit is exceeded so he/she should take care of their usage of the petrol. Quicker responses are needed from the database. Application/Improvements: This type of technique can be applied on several non-renewable energy sources. By using high end servers like we can improve its speed and processing efficiently.Keywords

Background/Objectives: The sunlight heats up closed area which is free of air and in close contact with sun much faster and significantly. This project is used to reduce the very high temperatures present inside the vehicles to feel very comfortable. Methods/Statistical Analysis: This paper proposes a CAN based module for self-regulated inside ventilation of vehicles to reduce the high temperatures presented inside the vehicles in summer. Two microcontrollers and a group of sensors which facilitate efficient, reliable, safe ventilation and sufficient data to ensure functional are used by this project. The communication using CAN bus is established between two ARM controllers. By changing the windows of the vehicle to open position, the ventilation process is performed. The position of the windows is controlled by the controller itself and without presence of driver using an algorithm that gives the details of sensors. Findings: The movements observed near the vehicle, precipitation and others have importance besides temperature for the ventilation. The results of the tests give usefulness and the modules utilization, the windows of the vehicle is closed when the temperature inside the vehicle achieves more than comfortable temperature and if any fire accidents, thefting of vehicle occurs then the location of the vehicle is sent to the user. Application/Improvements: The system provides comfortability to the users with a low cost. It saves the fuel by reducing the usage of AC. This system can be used in home and own vehicles, cabs, and transport business.Keywords

A survey was conducted to evaluate the incidence of cigarette beetle Lasioderma serricorne F. in three districts of Telangana state viz., Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Warangal. The survey was conducted twice- July and October 2014. These surveys revealed the prevalence of five species in stored turmeric viz., cigarette beetle Lasioderma serricorne F., drug store beetle Stegobium paniceum L., red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum Herbst, lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica F. and saw-toothed grain beetle Oryzaephilus surinamensis L. Among these, L. serricorne was found to be the most dominant in all the three districts, with maximum infestation being observed in Ranga Reddy district.Keywords

An experiment was conducted to detect the hidden infestation of Lasiderma serricorne F. in the turmeric rhizomes by X-ray radiography. Six varieties viz., Duggirala, Pratibha, Armoor, Salem, Kasturi and Tekurpeta were selected based on their size. Standardization of X-ray radiography values were done by subjecting the fingers to 120 combinations of voltage (KV), current (mA) and exposure period (s). The results revealed that the hidden infestation was detected as accurately as possible with 22 to 25 KV voltage, 3 mA to 5 mA current with 10 sec of exposure.Keywords

Caffeine is a commonly consumed psychoactive substance that has been shown to have various effects on cellular processes, including cell growth and survival. In this study, we investigated the potential of Caffeine to enhance the cytotoxic effects of two commonly used chemotherapeutic agents, doxorubicin and oxaliplatin, on B16F10 cells. We evaluated the cytotoxicity, calculated the IC50 and combination index of the medications, estimated the cell cycle of the cells, and evaluated the apoptotic and anti-apoptotic genes through gene expression analysis. Our results demonstrated that Caffeine significantly potentiated the cytotoxicity of both doxorubicin and oxaliplatin, resulting in a more significant reduction in cell viability compared to treatment with the chemotherapeutic agents alone. Additionally, Caffeine also enhanced the pro-apoptotic effects of the chemotherapeutic agents, leading to increased levels of apoptosis in the B16F10 cells. The combination of doxorubicin and oxaliplatin with Caffeine was found to be synergistic. These findings suggest that caffeine may have the potential to improve the efficacy of current chemotherapeutic regimens and may offer a novel approach to enhance cancer treatment.Keywords
